Prayer for the Beatification of Catherine McAuley

Loving God, you chose Catherine McAuley for the service of your people who are poor, sick and uneducated. You inspired her to found the Sisters of Mercy that these good works might endure. Give to each of us a portion of her compassionate spirit and ardent desire to serve your suffering people.

Bless all our undertakings and grant that union and charity may always thrive among us. Graciously hear our prayer for Catherine, and by granting the favors we ask through her intercession, hasten the day when her sanctity will be celebrated by all the church. Amen.

School Updates

  • Spring sports have officially kicked off their seasons! These include our soccer, tennis and track & field teams. Check out our social media pages to find out when they'll play again!
  • Our Spring Play, The Miracle Worker, took the stage the first weekend of April.
  • After hours of studying, numerous prep classes and practice test, our juniors took the ACT on April 9. While scores won't come out for a few months, we are so proud of the hard work and dedication our juniors put into this exam.
  • In the weeks leading up to the ACT, our freshmen, sophomores and seniors participated in Kaleidoscope — a four-year leadership and empowerment program that encourages students to maximize individual strengths throughout a series of progressive opportunities.
  • Our sophomores put on a terrific talent show! From singing, balloon-making, Irish dancing, magic tricks and so much more, it's safe to say Class of 2026 knows how to work a stage!

Creighton University's Grit Scholars

Three Mercy High School seniors have received the prestigious Heider Foundation Grit Scholarship to Creighton University! The half-tuition scholarship recognizes students who have a high aptitude to succeed but whose talents are not evident when measured by the standard academic metrics used to qualify students for significant merit scholarships at Creighton University.

The scholarship winners are, from left to right, Kaylee Epp, Georgia Kinney and Hannah Peatrowsky.

We are so proud of the hard work these girls put into their application, interviews and for receiving this scholarship.

Lights Out - For The Mission

Earlier this month, Mercy Girls participated in a technology free day to live in solidarity with the girls living in Africa who we hope to help with year’s Mission. We ended the day hearing from two powerful speakers, Fr. Vitalis Anyanike and Sr. Jennifer Agbaja, who are both from Nigeria. Their inspirational words really inspired the girls to raise money for our Mission.

This year we are working to raise money to help fund educational expenses for young girls in Nigeria, Kenya, Cambodia and Sudan. If you'd like help us and donate, please Venmo @Mercy-HighSchoolOmaha or send a check to the school.
