Administrator of the Year
Holly McCoy, Mercy High School’s Assistant Principal for Student Life, has been named the Archdiocese of Omaha’s Administrator of the Year. She will be honored, along with other Educators of the Year, at the Archbishop’s Dinner for Education in September 2017.
In her 39 years at the school she has taught science, physical education, and math, coached, and served as the school’s Athletic Director for 38 of those years.
A firm believer in the development of the entire student ---mind, body, and spirit --she is known as a tireless supporter of Mercy, an advocate for the success of students, and a passionate supporter of all extracurricular activities. Her accomplishments include growing the athletic program from six teams in the late 70’s to 17 teams, doing so without a gymnasium for 20 years, coordinating the Monarch Parents Club, summer camps and sports mentoring programs as well as advocating for awards, honors and college scholarships for students.
She has lent her abilities and talents to many organizations and groups. She is a Mercy Associate and is currently on the planning committee for the Mercy Secondary Education Conference. She has been a Board member of the Nebraska State Interscholastic Athletics Association (NSIAAA), a past member of the North Central External Visitation Team, a delegate to the Nebraska School Activities Association (NSAA) Representative Assembly, and has served on numerous state sport committees, the Holy Cross School Board, and more. McCoy has also been honored as the NSIAAA District Administrator of the Year in 2002 and received the National Association for Girls and Women in Sport Pathfinder Award in 2011.
“ Holly works first and foremost for the success of every student and has dedicated her life to that mission. She does so through a prism of her faith and care for all. This recognition reaffirms what we already know, that she is an outstanding person who ministers as a Mercy High School administrator,” said Sr. Delores Hannon, RSM, President, Mercy High School.
