February 20, 2018
By Deb Daley

FIESTA 2018 lived up to its name—Mercy-The Gold Standard. The event, which took place on Saturday, February 17, raised funds for the school’s Negotiated Tuition Program, and hit several major milestones.

  • Close to $360,000 was raised---one of the highest totals in recent years and 460 people attended.
  • Participants raised their paddles to support a special fundraising effort at the event to renovate Mercy’s science labs incentivized by a $75,000 matching grant from the Dr. C. C. and Mabel Criss Memorial Fund.  More than $153,335 was raised ---the most ever for a raise the paddle segment.
  • New this year was the ability to purchase a Golden Ticket for $100 each.  Fifty Golden Tickets were sold in less than 15 minutes giving the lucky winner the opportunity to pick the live auction item of their choice.   The lucky winner, Patricia Cavanaugh, selected a week’s trip to Marina Fiesta Resort Los Cobos.

The Negotiated Tuition Program provides individualized tuition assistance to students based on each family’s unique needs and income. Mercy believes that a quality, faith-based education should be available to any girl who desires it.  Mercy provides the most financial assistance per student than any other Omaha high school.  Annually that is $1.6 million for approximately 82% of the students.
