175 Tweets to Support Mercy Principles

September 06, 2018
By Deb Daley

Mercy’s Student Council is taking to Twitter to celebrate the 175th anniversary of the Sisters of Mercy arriving in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and establishing the Mercy community in the United States. Globally, Mercy groups will be taking action to support two of principles set forth in the Sisters Chapter 2017 Recommitment: growing in our personal practice of nonviolence and strengthening our relationships.

Beginning on Monday, September 10th, Student Council representatives from all classes will be tweeting for 175 days about these principles.  Using the hashtag #OMercy175, topics will include quotes, challenges, favorite Mercy reflections, alumnae advice, safety tips, and student-teacher relationships.  Mercy students, families, alumnae, and friends are encouraged to follow and share these efforts.  At the end of the campaign, Student Council plans to make a video highlighting the most popular tweets.
