Prayer for the Beatification of Catherine McAuley

Loving God, you chose Catherine McAuley for the service of your people who are poor, sick and uneducated. You inspired her to found the Sisters of Mercy that these good works might endure. Give to each of us a portion of her compassionate spirit and ardent desire to serve your suffering people.

Bless all our undertakings and grant that union and charity may always thrive among us. Graciously hear our prayer for Catherine, and by granting the favors we ask through her intercession, hasten the day when her sanctity will be celebrated by all the church. Amen.

School Updates

- We're officially one month into our 2024-2025 school year and it's already starting out as a great one! On August 14, we welcomed 94 new Mercy Girls as they joined the Monarchy.

- We ended our first full week of school was with our annual Welcome Picinc! We started the day off with Mass, followed by a beanie parade. The beanie parade displayed the junior/senior big sisters creativity ranging from themes of Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders to Love Island to Jurassic Park. The day continued with the Welcome Picnic which included a watermelon eating contest, art, basketball and flag football games.

- Our 2025 seniors spent last week on retreat while our Freshmen had their first ever Retreat at Mercy High School. Both classes spending time with each other, learning what it means to be a Mercy Girl, sharing dreams and goals, and making memories.

- The Bloc's 20 Under 20 Nebraska Awards honoring exceptional young individuals across the state was this past weekend and we could not be more proud of two of our very own Mercy Girls! Jazmine Jobson and Grace Ann Robinson are true leaders and dedicate so much of their time to not just academics but the community.

- Our fall sports have officially kicked off their seasons! Check the athletics calendar to see when you can catch the Monarchs in action. Additionally, if you're interested in volunteering at any of our sporting events, please let NAME know.

National Merit Semi-Finalists

Fewer than 1% of graduating seniors nationwide are recognized as National Merit Semi-Finalists, and we are thrilled to announce that Mercy has has not one, not two, but THREE students who have received this prestigious honor.

Congratulations to Kate Beran, Emily Browning and Annabelle Carney — their Senior Year is one to look forward to as they continue to excel!

Mercy's 2024 Driving For Excellence

Our annual GolfFest was a huge success thanks to our amazing supporters. Every swing helped create more opportunities for our Mercy Girls! Golfers met at Field Club of Omaha for brunch before the 18-hole scramble started and we finished the day with a dinner and the prizes presentation. Our 2024 winners were:

  • Men's Flight Winners: Bob Gonderinger, Bob Tatten, Bob Bertsch and John Fullenkamp.
  • COED Flight Winners: Jo McAlpine, Curt McAlpine, Travis and Ryan.
  • Women's Flight Winners: Mary Gonderinger, Christine Gonderinger, Emily Gonderinger and Leslie Douglas.

Thank you to everyone that attended, donated, volunteered, and participated in the silent auction. We're already looking forward to next year's!
