All students interested in attending Mercy High School are required to shadow for a day either their 7th or 8th grade year. Shadowing at Mercy for a day really helps students determine if this is the high school for them. During your shadow day, you will meet a variety of Mercy students, faculty and staff. You will attend classes and learn more about the many opportunities you can become involved at Mercy in athletics, fine arts, campus ministry, and extracurricular activities.
Students are welcome to shadow a Mercy Girl that they already know, or Mrs. McGill, the Director of Admissions will pair students with a Mercy Girl who shares common interests in classes and extracurricular activities. Mercy Girls are only allowed to have one shadow visitor during the day.
In order to schedule your shadow visit, please fill out the shadow form, email Mrs. Anne McGill, the Director of Admissions at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 402.553.9424. We must have TWO FULL DAYS to set up a shadow visit in order to secure a shadow hostess and give the faculty advance notice. Students are encouraged to shadow any time during the school year. We do have a maximum number of shadow visitors on days when several schools are not in session.
In 2019-2020, the 1st day to shadow for 1st semester will be August 26th, and the 1st day to shadow for 2nd semester will be January 8th. Days that are NOT available for students to shadow include:

Current Mercy girl’s shadow experiences:
Shadowing is so important because you never know what a school is like until you spend the day there like a real high school student. I shadowed many schools but when I stepped into Mercy my 8th grade year, I knew it was my home for the next four years. All of the teachers and girls were so nice and were constantly asking me questions, and even let me participate in class. I am so thankful that I shadowed at a few schools so that I could make the right choice for me!
“Shadowing was the best thing I did in my search for a high school. Shadowing gave me a real picture of what to expect, and what the school’s environment was like. I choose Mercy, based off of my shadowing experience. I shadowed at three schools, and Mercy was the obvious school for me. The other schools were nice, but Mercy was where I belonged. I felt welcomed and comfortable, and I knew that I could be myself at Mercy. Thanks to shadowing, I am now a Mercy girl, and I’m loving every minute of my time as a Mercy Monarch.”
Shadowing a school where you will spend crucial parts of your life at, is essential to choosing the perfect fit. When I shadowed at Mercy, I felt welcomed, at ease, and interested. Not only did I get a sneak peek at the school, but I could see why Mercy girls loved it so much, and I was excited to start loving it as well.
I loved shadowing because I was able to experience firsthand what it’s like to be a Mercy girl. I fell in love with friendly atmosphere and the wide variety of classes offered. Shadowing helped me decide that Mercy was the right fit for me!
Shadowing at Mercy was an experience for me. I knew within ten minutes of the first class that I wanted to spend my next four years here. Shadowing is the only way to understand the open and friendly environment that Mercy is.
