International Conference of Educators Hosted by Mercy

More than 160 Mercy educators and administrators from the Americas—Belize, Philippines, Jamaica, Guam, Argentina, Honduras, and the United States –will descend on Omaha, October 13-14 for their annual conference. The event, hosted by Mercy High School, takes place at the Embassy Suites, Old Market.

The program theme is “Mercy Responds, Who is My Neighbor, “ and will feature a keynote speech, breakout sessions on Friday and Saturday as well as a Mass, dinner and social gathering at the school on Saturday starting at 4:00 p.m. Sr. Deidre Mullan, RSM, who has worked at the United Nations and has been part of bringing education to third world girls as well as working with UNICEF is the keynoter.

Given the international flavor of the conference, Mercy students who speak a variety of languages including Spanish, Mina/Ewe, Chinese, Hebrew, Kirundi and sign language, will provide language assistance during Mass. The dinner that evening will include international desserts from all the Americas and is being underwritten by Catholic Mutual.
